Timothy Moriarty is a litigator and trial lawyer handling a wide variety of civil and criminal cases at all levels of the state and federal courts as well as alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Timothy has earned a reputation for his ability to maintain perspective amid the action exercising tactical, creative, and sound judgement to achieve excellent outcomes in the most challenging of circumstances.
Timothy has experience advising clients across a broad spectrum ranging from individuals, sole proprietorships to large corporations. He handles an extensive variety of actions, such as breach of contract, complex commercial litigation, securities violations, RICO claims, business and shareholder disputes, professional malpractice, premises liability, trusts and estate litigation and health care related matters.
Highly experienced in all aspects of criminal defense, Tim has represented individuals and business entities facing criminal or quasi-criminal charges in federal, state, and municipal courts. He has extensive experience handling a wide-variety of criminal charges in all phases of the criminal process, such as pre-indictment investigations, arrest, arraignment, grand juries, pleas, discovery, pretrial hearings, trials, jury selection, evidence, motions, and post-trial remedies.
This broad and extensive experience has enabled Tim to work closely with corporate clients providing counsel regarding policies and procedures, litigation and risk management, case valuations, reporting requirements, and insurance coverage issues. Tim has successfully represented individuals and entities in governmental investigations, civil and criminal litigation brought by regulatory and governmental authorities, such as the Bureau of Securities, Division of Consumer Affairs, and the Attorney General’s Office. Tim works diligently to provide adaptive solutions limiting parallel processing risk and preventing additional inquiries from criminal and civil investigative authorities.
Tim has substantial Appellate experience and provides clients with effective appellate advocacy, which requires cogent legal analysis, brief-writing, and oral advocacy. During law school Tim served as judicial intern to the Honorable James R. Zazzali, Associate Justice, Supreme Court of New Jersey. After law school, Timothy served as appellate clerk for the Honorable for Mary Catherine Cuff, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. Tim leverages his first-hand knowledge of how appellate judges decide cases to effectively identify and present the arguments most likely to lead to a positive outcome.
Before coming to DEMP, Tim worked at Coughlin Duffy, LLP; Proskauer Rose LLP; Bubb Grogan Cocca, LLP, spending 9 years at The Moriarty Law Firm as Managing Partner of Litigation and Appellate Practice.
